FudgePhysio is a family run Equine Therapy Centre. We offer Children’s Physiotherapy and Hippotherapy (therapeutic riding for children with disabilities) with the option of bespoke accessible accommodation for the whole family.
Physiotherapy with children is a specialist area and needs an element of fun to keep your child motivated and positive. Children require specialised treatment from an experienced therapist as they have anatomical, physiological and psychological differences to an adult.Fudgephysio offers one to one physiotherapy treatment at your own home so the child can stay relaxed and able to use creative play to get the most effective treatment.
I am currently able to offer treatment across south west for one off assessments or regular treatment as required. I am able offer therapy with children with neurological, neuromuscular, developmental and musculoskeletal issues or concerns.
Hippotherapy is used in conjunction with mainstream physiotherapy, and we will design a programme that compliments the treatment that you currently receiving and do report about goals and aims to take away if required. It allows the child to have fun, form a bond with the pony and do stretches and core stability without feeling it is ‘boring physiotherapy’.
We have recently moved to new premises so we can offer equine therapy breaks and the whole family can get away and stay in a touch of luxury with a tudor annexe that is over 500 years old, but still have ease of an accessible shower, facilities, and child friendly. We aim to let the whole family have fun and relaxed break with bespoke therapy package running along side the stay and any siblings joining in so you can feel like a family enjoying an active break.
Vicky has been qualified physiotherapist over 21 years working for NHS and independently and worked in variety of settings (BSc Hons, HPC Reg). Vicky is a Physiotherapist trained in Hippotherapy over 8 years. Vicky wanted to offer the children more of an experience as so many children benefit from interaction with the pony especially for social and emotional health, and let them feel like family activity giving siblings chance to sit on too and have activities they can do with swings, playhouse whilst others riding.
Vicky has completed additional 4 weeks training in Movement, Analysis, Education and Strategies ( MAES therapy) to consider new ways to help children with neurodisabilities, and children with movement disorders and cerebral palsy. As a family we have done fostering, respite and child minding at home so everyone here is happy to work with children and understand the way we are trying to maximise the child’s potential.
Assisting Vicky are her husband Andy and son Callum as leaders and side walkers, everyone will be wearing PPE and following covid guidelines as advised by Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
